Postalgia shows you posts and photos from your own social media data exports, on the same date in past years. It was built so your memories never leave your phone.
Nothing, by default. Postalgia has no accounts, no sign-up, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. We do not run a server that stores your data.
When you import an export file (from Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, X or Snapchat), Postalgia reads it on your device and keeps the posts and photo previews it needs in the app's private storage on that device. That data is never uploaded to us or to anyone else. You can delete all of it at any time in Library → Delete all memories, or by uninstalling the app.
Postalgia only shares something when you tap Share. The image you create goes to the app you choose, such as Instagram Stories, and that app's own privacy policy applies from then on.
If you choose to send feedback, we receive only what you write, your device type, and how many memories you have imported. We never receive your posts or photos. Feedback is used only to improve the app.
Postalgia is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Make sure you chose JSON format and "All available information" when you requested your download. HTML exports can't be read.
Big exports with thousands of photos can take a few minutes. Keep Postalgia open until it finishes.
Postalgia keeps memories only on your device, so it can't restore them for you. Keep your original export files, and you can re-import them on any phone in a few minutes.
Open Library → Delete all memories. Everything is removed from your phone immediately.

These terms apply when you download or use Postalgia (the "App") or this website. By using the App, you agree to them. If you got the App from Apple's App Store, Apple's Standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. If the two conflict, Apple's agreement controls for App Store copies.
Postalgia displays content from data export files that you download from third-party services and choose to import. The App processes and stores that content only on your device.
You own your content. You confirm that you have the right to import any export file you open in the App. We never receive, copy or claim any rights to your content.
Postalgia is not a backup service. Your imported memories live only on your device and can be lost if the App is deleted, your device is reset, replaced or damaged, or an error occurs. Keep your original export files so you can import them again at any time.
Postalgia is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by Meta Platforms, Inc. (Instagram, Facebook), TikTok, X Corp., or Snap Inc. All product names and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used only to describe which export files the App can read. Those services may change their export formats at any time, which may affect what the App can display.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the App and website are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not promise that the App will be error-free or uninterrupted, or that it will read every export file or every post.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, content or memories, arising from your use of the App. Our total liability for any claim relating to the App will not exceed the amount you paid for it. Some places do not allow certain limitations, so some of these may not apply to you.
Use the App only with export files you have the right to use, and only for lawful, personal purposes. Postalgia is intended for users 13 and older.
Postalgia is sold through the Apple App Store and Google Play. Payments and refunds are handled under their policies.
We may update these terms. Changes take effect when posted here, and the date above will change. Continuing to use the App means you accept the updated terms.
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Ohio, USA, without regard to conflict-of-law rules.
